Mighty Pup: You know Tim, the Pup thinks it is fair to say there in not a dry eye in the studio anymore. Here you go big guy.... (Pup hands Tim an authenic White Doghouse pawkerchief). President MacTavish did once share a story with the Pup on the campaign trail that is no doubt germane to the question you asked about when he decided to go into politics.

Tim Basset: *sniff* Could you share it with us?

Mighty Pup: Certainly Tim. Back when MacTavish was just a young pup himself, only 5 months old, his neighbor was blessed with a litter of pups. One day one of these infant pups, barely able to walk, still tripping over their own paws, got seperated from the rest of his siblings and out of sight of his mom. Now you have to remember. MacT had known only peace and love, and doggy play at this point in his life. But suddenly, he heard the frantic, barely audible (to human ears of course) yelps and cries of this pup infant and naturally, Mac went to investigate.

Tim Basset: Without the First Mom, or any of his dog family members?

Mighty Pup: Yes Tim, all by himself. As he rounds the corner of the next door neighbors house, he is greeted by the sight of this lost infant pup, cowered and threatened by a full grown, 9 pound, yellow striped bully cat known in the neighborhood as Sassy the Slasher!

MacT knew he had to do something fast, so he did just what came naturally for a real dog. He went after that bully cat with all that he was worth, barking and snapping, never giving any thought to his own safety, as he deftly avoided Slasher's desperate counterattack. The whole affair was over in less than 30 seconds. Slasher was not expecting such courage and bravery as displayed by MacT, especially given his own youth and inexperience. Like a flash, Slasher was hightailing for home, and MacT chased her off through 2 yards!

Tim Basset: What an incredible feat for young MacTavish!

Mighty Pup: Yes Tim, it was! He returned to the young infant Pup who was still quite traumatized by the entire incident. MacT simply gave him a once over sniff to make sure he was alright, gave him a reassuring lick, and returned the pupling to his grateful momma and siblings. From that moment. MacT told the Pup, that he knew he had to do something to deal with the "cat problem" that has caused so much discord over the ages.

Tim Basset: Thank you Press Secretary Dub, or should we call you Golden Teflon Glove Dub? Just kidding Dub, after hearing what you have been up to lately, we will call you whatever you wish! As a member of the press, I can honestly say, at least as honest as the press can be, that you were the most colorful and candid press secretaries that I have ever had the pleasure to know.

Mighty Pup: He was that! Yet another brilliant pick by President MacTavish, though while the Pup doesn't like to blow his own horn, he will admit that he helped convince President MacTavish that Teflon Dub was just the man we needed for our administration.

Tim Basset: So, Mighty Pup, did you attend any of those "pool parties" that the secretary mentioned?

Mighty Pup: What's that Tim? I believe your microphone was breaking up and the Pup's earpiece is giving feedback. The Pup better get this fixed before we go on....

(Pup mumbles to himself as he pretends fiddles with his earpiece....)

Hello, Tim, MP, First Mom, fellow administrators, and MacT supporters all over the world.

Can we talk?

[MP lets forth a low moan, as one who is roused in sleep by someone attempting to steal his bone from under the pillow.]

Our hearts are heavy with our loss, and our cheeks are wet from our tears. MacT was much loved, and for so many reasons.

Those who know me are aware I am a CAThy, and strongly in support of cats everywhere, though it has been said I'm an upside down PUPE, LOL, and from MP himself (though I tell him he's from the Lost Tribe of Morgan, but that's another story).

[MP lays quietly, smirking, only his upraised ears giving away any tendency to emit an interuptory growl.]

[Cathy rapidly continues after a quick inhalation and the wetting and smoothing of her hair with her right front paw.]

I first became aware of our now legendary President MacT by observing a rapidly growing thread right here in Ocean Breeze presenting what appeared to be some kind of contest. Busy (sometimes self-absorbed) feline that I am, I ignored what appeared to be a thread trying to promote some -- well, dog.

[Tim spews Community Roast coffee all over his monitor.]

[MP continues smirking.]

The growing number of posts in this thread, however, soon aroused my feline curiousity, and I was forced by my nature to go and have a peek. (Some may claim it was the use of hypnotic eyes, but we cats are immune to such tactics, aren't we?)

Anyway, I begin to read in this thread, and my extra-sensory vision beholds the most awesome of creatures ever to be unleashed on this Earth by Our Creator, even our own MP falls second.

[MP's ears rise and fall quickly.]

[Tim is still cleaning up his mess, smearing coffee into a much worse mess.]

My internal perceptors behold a human so filled with love and respect for this one named MacT that my heart sighs -- just sighs.

I find myself clicking on a link and voting -- for a -- dog!

The more I came to know MacT and his mom, the more amazed I became at how a dog could be all dog, and yet have so much love and respect for the other creatures who walked among him.

MacT was always open to having felines involved in his campaign and giving him input into potential issues to be addressed, and later put his authority where his mouth was by selecting many for his staff.

But beyond campaign issues, MacT was a conduit of love and laughter. He managed to bring together a support staff of creatures of every hue and calling, from the far corners of Delphi, all came to vote and to interact with one another in harmony and grace.

[CAThy begins to wipe streaming tears with left paw, as the right is soaking wet now.]

I -- I -- Words are just too inadequate for a summation. The exchanges are still here for any who were not able to share this time with us.

I -- I -- LOVED him -- I know it's politically incorrect for a CAThy to confess she loved a dog -- but there it is. I loved him, and I loved who he freed us to be with one another.

[CAThy glances over at the possum-like MP.]

And I love you, too, ya rascally PUPE! And in front of the world, I must thank you for all you did for our beloved President and the First Mom -- and for us as well.

[MP's smirk is once again in place, but if one looks closely, I do believe a tear is coming from his left eye.]

I love you, too, Diane, and all of you I've come to know here.

Welcome to Meet the Pup's, with your host, Tim Basset. As you know, this past week, President MacTavish, perhaps the most beloved Pup of our day, passed over the Rainbow Bridge to romp and play with the other canine angels, waiting patiently for their human to join them.

Today we present a special, extended forum cast where our panel will examine President MacTavish's life, and the enormous impact that he has had on us all, as related by some of those who were closest to the great canine.

In the studio today we have the Mighty Pup, who served as President MacTavish's campaign manager, Secretary of Dogfence, and his closest confident outside his lovely family. In addition, we will hear from Grace Rejoice, Secretary of Common Sense and Decency, and Cathy Morgan, Director of Canine Intelligence. We are also hoping that other members of the administration, as well as friends and family of President MacTavish will be able to join us.

Tim Basset: This is your 7th appearance if my memory serves. I can only extend my deepest sympathies on this sad occassion Mighty Pup.

Mighty Pup: Thanks again Tim, feel free to call me simply Pup, or MP even.

Tim Basset: First, would you tell me of how you came to know President MacTavish?

Mighty Pup: It would be my pleasure. It all started about a year ago. A lovely lady came to our home at Oceanside Breeze asking for support for her dear pup in his campaign for Dog of the Month. Now having been in the doghouses of power for many year, you can imagine how many times the Mighty Pup has been asked to support one paws..er... cause or another. The Pup has to tell you Tim, the first thought he had was "Oh great, yet another upstart pup." But something about this lady and her sincerity and devotion to her dog, and the Mighty Pup being the true gentlepup that he is, agreed to meet her caninedate.

Tim Basset: So you didn't know MacTavish before then? What was that first meeting like?

*Mighty Pup pauses to slurp his water dish* continued next post....

Mighty Pup: Tim, as you can imagine, the Mighty Pup sees hundreds and thousands of dogs every year. Some seeking favors, some just wishing to give the Mighty Pup their support. But almost every one of those pups practically throw themselves at the feet of the Mighty Pup and prostrate themselves....

Tim Basset: But MacT???

Mighty Pup: The Pup will tell you Tim, MacTavish was led into the Mighty Pup's inner sanctum by his human, the lovely Diane. This can be most intimidating to the ordinary person or dog. But MacTavish? MacT just walked on in, sat down in front of the Mighty Pup, cocked his head, and gave the Mighty Pup that infectuous grin of his that we all know now. The Pup will tell you Tim, he was impressed beyond measure. He knew immediately that MacTavish had "the Right Stuff!"

Tim Basset: He hooked you eh?

Mighty Pup: Yes Tim, MacTavish stuck out his paw to shake just as pretty as you please, no hesitation, no pretense. The Pup knew right then and there that "this dog could hunt" and he was going places! The Mighty Pup knew that he would go with the dog wherever the trail led.

Tim Basset: A trail that led all the way to the White House!

Mighty PUp: Yes Tim, but it was not always a smooth trail.

Tim Basset: Excuse me Pup, but my producers tell me it is time for yet another network break. Following this break, we hope to hear more of the exciting campain and get some of the other members of the panel to tell some of their stories. Please stay tuned.

Tim Basset: Welcome back to Meet the Pups, a tribute to MacT. Pup, could you tell us what it was like on the campaign trail?

Mighty Pup: Yes Tim, the Pup would be glad to. As you know, our campaign started nearly at the bottom of the polls. The front runner was seeming out of reach. But we believed in our caninedate, and we were certain that with hard work, a gentle heart, an honest message, and an unwavering faith in God, that we would prevail.

Tim Basset: So where did you begin?

Mighty Pup: Tim, the Pup knew he had to start at grass roots level, sniff out the territory, and mark our territory as we expanded, if you know what the Pup means... LOL! The first step was to go and ask Nancy if we could use her forum as campaign headquarters.

Tim Basset: Nancy?

Mighty Pup: Yes Tim, Nancy, you have her here in the panel, but you know her as Gracie or Gracerejoice.

Tim Basset: Fascinating! I had no idea that Gracie was known as Nancy as well.

Mighty Pup: Yes Tim, Gracie was one of the true movers and shakers in the MacTavish campaign. We started off small, sending posts to various other forums, enlisting whatever help we could get. This was actually not that hard, for MacTavish's infectuous grin, his personality, and his just plain honest, down home political platform, practically sold itself!

Tim Basset: Perhaps we could get Gracie, the Secretary of Common Sense and Decency to jump into our discussion.

Mighty Pup: Yes, that would be a great idea. How about it Gracie?

Tim Basset: As moderator of Meet the Pups, and one who truly admired President MacTavish, I am honored to have the First Mom stop in for even a moment. Please, feel free to share your thoughts on President MacTavish, perhaps share some of his history, if and when you feel up to it. This is an extended program, and we have refreshments in the Green Room if you need some time to gather yourself.

Mighty Pup: Yes Diane, please do share with us. You know Tim, President MacTavish told me quite a bit of his younger years. It was really quite amusing. Seems MacTavish first met Diane after she had only been in the US for a short time. President MacTavish told me he was but a young pup himself when he met this young Scottish lass, fresh to America, seemingly lost in the rough and rugged San Francisco rat race. Seems he first noticed her when she began speaking with this lovely Scottish accent, but few could understand what she was saying. He told me that the moment he first sniffed Diane, he knew that she was just the person for him. From that moment on, MacTavish took the young Diane under his paws, and he nutured her, taught her the way of the canine, and the rest is history.

Might I step up at this paws for a word or two of Prez MacT if I may?? I am Curio, Secretary to Foreign Feline Affairs, and having worked with MacT, I have to say that we didn't always see eye to eye, and his straight to the heart of matters sometimes rubbed my fur the wrong way, but I was willing to sit back on my haunches and listen intentively to whatever our Great Leader had to bark. His way was THE way! ::::::CC gives a contented purr, while licking her silky fur on her leg:::::::: With a mighty wave of his paw, he was able to grant me assistance in my campaign to stomp out the Annual Czech Cat Hunts, and allowed me free leash, er, rein, to build shelters for wayward kitties in India. Without his unusual and rare true love for cat-kind, our Foreign Domestic cat-sisters abroad would not have the soft pillows, cat-nip filled mice, and sanitary litter boxes that they have now. His gruff but warm heart will be missed amongst us cats of Amercia who learned his true way.....

Tim Basset: Thank you Secretary of Foreign Feline Affairs Currio Cat. You have reminded this reporter of the many facets President MacTavish has brought to his office, and of events we are only now beginning to learn of, such as the intervention into the Annual Czech Cat Hunts.

Mighty Pup: Tim, there were numerous operations that President MacTavish was either directly responsible for, or gave needed support for, that has helped make this world more secure for fur bearing and non-fur bearing creatures. Of course, most of these efforts were on behalf of the noble canine. But President MacTavish did maintain an open door policy for cats.

Tim Basset: Speaking of this open door policy for cats, there has been numerous reports in the press, that this policy was a source of some disagreement with you, the Mighty Pup, and President MacTavish?

Mighty Pup: Er.... this program is not about the Mighty Pup Tim. So he will neither confirm nor deny these reports. All the Mighty Pup can say is that he stands 4 paws behind the MacTavish administration and all that we accomplished

Hello Mr Basset long time no see. I am so sorry for my long departure. I was out of the country doing top secret bodyguard stuff. So I could come back,and train the secret service in some hand to hand. Press secretary is fun when I get to yell at you guys. It never had that hands on your throat feeling that I tend to love so much.

It truly was a sad day. I remember I was on my 2000Th morning sit up when I got the call from pup. Fighting that day was not as fun as It usually is. I mean I only took half the enjoyment out of a well executed guillotine choke.

So as I'm waiting for the okay from Air Force One to pick me up. They were not quite sure where I was. I reflected on my time with Mac T. I couldn't tell you the amount of pleasure I got from being the press secretary. Even though I was hardly needed, and did my disappearing act. Mac T was easy to work for he gave me a carte blanch with you guys, and your sometimes excessively stupid questions. No offense intended Mr Basset, but I could see your guys questions about 5-10 minutes before you'd ask. The reports of how I was "hostile to the media" Mac T would just sit back, and do that laugh. I'd try to apologize, and he'd say, "well as long as the presidency has plausible deniability in your words. We here at the top are okay with it".

When he'd have his pool parties,and the chicks. AAHH UMM I mean ladies would be showing up in droves. Mac T, and myself being happily married kept low profile, but it was nice for everyone. Besides how can you not love the power of the presidency, and being a damn fine looking dog. Woman were powerless. He never even showed an interest in them. He wasn't like some of the previous administrations, and the tales of womanizing.

I remember playing cards with him on many occasions. I don't really know many card games, but he never took advantage of me. Sometime's when I played with his friends I felt like a Velour Painting.

His late night talks he'd try to give me about "being more people oriented" To which I'd Always reply "Mac T my man you don't know the ridicules stuff people put me through. You have no Ideal what they want to know OVER, and OVER. I answer the same freaking question to everyone in the press room." If they'd all just copy each other notes I could take the day off"

Well I have to go I think that guy over there looked at us funny. I have this great arm bar you can use, and you can hear the ligaments pop. Might as well try it now.

Tim Basset: Well, that was interesting. I can't say that I have ever seen such a scene in all my years of broadcasting.

Mighty Pup: Hmmmm, so much for the myth of cats always landing on their feet eh Tim?

(Pup's teary eyes having been dried up, regain their myrth upon seeing Cathy's exit)

Tim Basset: I imagine you have lots of stories you could tell us about working in the MacTavish administration with CAThy.

Mighty Pup: Yes Tim, I could. But you know Tim, while the Pup was quite concerned about President MacTavish choosing CAThy as director of the Canine Intelligence Agency, for reasons which have just became quite clear to you and the rest of your audience, the Mighty Pup must again bow to the wisdom of President MacTavish.

Tim Basset: And how is that if you don't mind me asking?

(Tim still seems a bit embarrased by the coffee stain on his shirt)

Mighty Pup: Well just think about it. As you know, we canines, being the honorable and honest creatures that God made us, are as a rule, ill suited at positions that require stealth, deception, and scheming. When you get right down to it, who better than a cat for this post? (Pup smirking as he considers mentioning the gender as well, but decides against that.)

Tim Basset: As usual, you make a good point, and it should be obvious to all why President MacTavish insisted that you remain on as advisor following your role in the election.

Mighty Pup: Why thank you Tim. But truth be told, CAThy did a fantastic role in her post. These are dangerous times. As you know, we must remain vigilant against those Ally Cata terrorist cells. These terrorists hate us canines for the high standards and culture that we represent, and our freedoms. We have made great strides in bringing these rogues to justice, but lets face it, there is no better way to fight Ally Cata terrorism than with other cats that have seen some light, and loyalty to leaders like President MacTavish. And we really owe a lot to CAThy for her work in fighting this scourge. And thank God for leaders like President MacTavish, that had the foresight to see beyond the natural dog/cat schism, and could discern the wisdom of choosing someone like CAThy.

Mighty Pup: This picture from the MacTavish collection was taken during a period of intense self examination for MacTavish; a time when his ideals, dreams came together into a coherent, internally consistent whole - a time where the bright light of truth was focused on his soul and all self doubts were erased. This was from the period when he knew that his dreams of making a mark on this world would become reality. Historians have already started referring to this picture as his wilderness years."

Good day Mr. Basset.

Thank you for the time to..... share with you and all the wonderful listeners...in speaking in tribute to our beloved and honorable President MacTavish.

I first would like to share...some personal revealing from my own heart. I met First Mum Diane...early on in the election....and saw what a wonderful canine MacTavish was. There was also such a kindred spirit of First Mum and President MacTavish with mine. It was as if I always knew them, which is common to all who came to know them. I then reached out to this much honorable First Mum and her dear canine...and asked for them to adjoin here at Ocean Breeze...knowing of the expertise of our own beloved Pup....(I so did want to be in the race for MacTavish, he was so honorable and the best of the best...and call it Providence..but I just knew that I would be able to not only support MacTavish but be there with the leadership of our Mighty Pup which is an awesome sight alone to behold....as we all were vested in MacTavish's victory...becoming our very own President).

Well the rest Mr. Basset is history...First Mum graciously appeared here with our beloved President...and just as providencial as with me...our Pup took so greatly to heart with MacTavish....(well look at the dignity and love in President MacTavish, how could one not). And off the top did the campaign begin. And what a campaign it was.

Our beloved President MacTavish was always the gracious contender...always caring for all ... in the animal kingdom....not only for canines...but for all fury and other friends...even humanioids...he truly put each ones best interest first.

There were those who came to disrupt the process..and bring slanders against dear President MacTavish...but as fast as they came....they were combated with the truth....of what a wonderful...caring and marvelous leader MacTavish was....the slanders never stood a chance...in fact the words and deciets they used...turned....for MacTavish good...showing his astute ability to stay calm and dignified and hold his proud undaunted head high...as all came to light just what a great leader he truly was. And the peoples...be it fury or feathery...or scaly...or humanoid....they saw...they noted...and they elected MacTavish!

President MacTavish....led us all...with the same love and care and giving and putting others fist as he lived many a year and day with his dear First Mum. He proved to us...what it was like to have such great leadership...always serving.....always putting his constituents...and all first...always finding the balance...and diplomacy to gain what was best for all those he served.

He enacted few laws but those he did....were all for the benefit of others. He was the truest of great leaders...and one that will be remembered throughout the ages.

I had more to say...but am very chocked up...so Mr. Basset....please be understanding...I hope maybe I will be able to pick up later to share with all the greatness of our beloved Presidnet MacTavish....he truly is the Statemans Canine for the Century.

Fondly...I submitt this transcript to you...I hope to speak again in regard to President MacTavish...for he is worthy...and all that he has given..needs to be remembered and passed on through time.

I think it's only fair to say, that there is not a dry eye in the studio right now after hearing your recounting of those exciting days when the election was in full swing, and of President MacTavish's service to the world.

Mighty Pup: *sniff* Yes Tim, the wisdom of President MacTavish is evident in the mere creation of the office that our dear Gracie held. Imagine, no one had ever even considered the possibility of an Office of Common Sense and Decency till President MacTavish had the courage and foresight to establish this office.

Tim Basset: I think it is fair to say that even those who had their doubts about President MacTavish, would be quick to say now that the Office of Common Sense and Decency was a brilliant and much needed move.

Mighty Pup: No doubt about it! And there can be little question of the great job Gracie has done in this new and vitally needed position. No doubt about it, we still have a long way to go to restore common sense and decency to the level we need in this world, but Gracie, and the MacTavish administration has made great strides toward this goal.

Tim Basset: Meet the Pup's will continue after this short break.

Tim Basset: I am honored to announce that we have Diane, President MacTavish's First Mom, in the studio with us. She has agreed to answer a few questions, but she is understandably still in a lot of hurt and has asked to keep the questions to a minimum for the time being, and we will of course respect her wishes.

*Spontaneours polite and respectful applause breaks out on the set as Diane, the First Mom makes her enterance.

Tim Basset: Welcome Diane, to our tribute to President MacTavish. It goes without saying that you are in the center of our thoughts and prayers in this difficult time for you.

Would you share with us, just when did you find out that MacTavish was interested in a political career, and what were your feelings about him running for the highest office in the land?

You are just the most wonderful friend. I can't adequately describe how special you are. You are also grieving the loss of your wonderful mother...yet you still have time to post about MacTavish.

How totally un-selfish of you...you are such a giving person and if it weren't for you and the wonderful gentle soul that you are, with the great big heart... if it weren't for you none of this would ever have happened. You are responsible for this wonderful joy that everyone has experienced. You are responsible for my coming to this forum in the first place when you graciously invited me to post here about the contest. I came here because of you and met the Mighty Pup and the rest as they say is history.

There are so many people who should be thanking you right now, but I'm going to be the first. I thank you dearest Nancy from the bottom of my heart for being the kind, gentle and compassionate soul that you are. The Lord certainly works in mysterious ways and I just know that he put all of you in my life for a reason. You have all made my life so much sweeter from knowing you.

I saw yesterday your Memorial and Tribute to MACTavish...it was so beautifully done..you do wonderful work..and I spent a long time there...it was very comforting to me...as I know to others...that darlin MAC will keep touching lives...he sure has the touch...to reach deep in there and make ones heart so full .... what a precious, and truly dear one MACTavish was to all and to those who will meet him in the days and years to come.

((((((Puppy)))))) What a great story...I remember the day MacTavish wandered off to save the pupling very well. He came home and expressed his great need to do something about Terror Cats. :-)

Did MacTavish also tell you he spent the first 2 years of his life on an Island off of Southern California known as Catalina Island? Yes, I worked for USC at the time and we lived in a community of only 100 people, for close to 2 years.

However, while there may not have been many people, there were many, many wild animals including, buffalo (bisen), bore and goats, to name but a few, that roam around the island...freely. MacTavish almost got trampled one day by a herd of stampeding buffalo...100% true story Puppy. :( Thankfully he wasn't hurt.

Tim Basset: Oh, I am so glad to see the First Mom has made it back, if even for a short time. Remember, the Green Room is at your disposal anytime you feel like you need to compose yourself. Well it looks like what President MacTavish related to you was no idle puppy story.

Mighty Pup: Yes Tim, of course if you knew MacTavish the way the Pup knew him, you knew he was not making anything up.... not that he couldn't pull your leg now and then. But I must say, the Pup can't recall hearing him tell the story of the buffalo before.

Tim Basset: That must have been a harrowing experience for young MacTavish.

Mighty Pup: Yes, but that would explain why President MacTavish went to Spain years ago in his wilderness years to take part in the "Running of the Bulls." The Pup guesses that was his way of getting back at them and to prove to himself that he had the courage to face any danger.

Tim Basset: You mean he actually took part in the Running of the Bulls? Why do you think he never mentioned that in his dogography?

Mighty Pup: Well Tim, truth be told, MacT was going to relate that story, but when the Mighty Pup took over as his campaign manager, he felt there were those who would see him as a risk taker and try and use that against him in the campaign.
