Phew, not going to give us a little breather before being asked the tough questions right off the bat, though I suppose one could call that a "fluf" question! (spontaneous laugher). Seriously, one of the first actions will be to call for creation of a Cat Council to study this serious issue. I can assure you that we already have some of the greatest Dog Scientists in the world working on this weighty issue. We have made progress, but more must be done. Right now work is being done in all the major centers of study toward coming up with a solution to the "Door knob Problem." Once we have an answer to that, much of the cat problem will take care of itself. In the meantime, I do think it is important that we reach out to that underprivlaged species, to see what can be done to improve cat/dog relations in a mutually acceptable way. Toward that end, I intend to ask Meowmie to serve as Secretary of Feline Affairs. As you know, she did work tirelessly toward our election, and is certainly qualified to hold this position.

The Press Conference

To:  ALL   (1 of 194)

Thank you, thank you! Please be seated. Thank you again! If we don't put an end to this wonderful applause, we will be here all night! First off, I would like to start off with a short statement before answering your questions.

When I started this campaign so long ago, I did so not for my benefit. As you know, I have had a good life, have all my needs have been taken care of by my beloved Diane. But there are dogs out there, people as well, who have not been blessed the way that I have, and I want to do what I can with the time God has left for me, to do what I can to make their life better. I know, a lot of my predcessors have made similar statements in the past, but I know you will soon see that I mean what I say, and say what I mean.

I can not tell you how much I have valued the support that so many have given my campaign. There are too many to name, but I wish to say some special thanks to Nancy for providing campaign headquarters, Cathy for her unqualified support, our new friend Meowmie and Whiskers Watson, Peter for his quiet support, our new friends here such as Scatter who provided all that coffee that we needed to keep going, Ozzie, Berta, Nikelab, and so many others. I know I have not mentioned everyone, but I could go on all night doing that. Oh, and don't let me forget to give a special thanks off to my campaign manager and trusted adviser, the Mighty Pup. Pup, this day would not have been possible without you friend!

Before we get to the questions, I would also like to mention that our team is keeping a close watch on what is going on at the poll. As you may know by now, the poll was to have ended at 9:00 eastern time. However, we know there have still been people allowed to vote. I can assure you, our people are on top of the situation. Our lead remains at landslide levels, our cause is just, and we shall come through!

Now, who has the first question?

Ladies and gentlemen, could you give a round of applause for my dearest friend and my closest family member, my mummy, Diane.....

Oh PUPSTER - I am bawling my eyes out.  This is far too precious for words.  You are just one of the greatest human beings I have ever had the great fortune to meet.  How can I possibly ever thank you for all the you have done for me and MacTavish, and also the other people mentioned in Mac's speech?

You  have been such a blessing in my life and I will never, ever, ever forget you and the kindness you have shown me.  Thank you does not seem adequate to you and the hard work I know you have put into this campaign, but as The Good Lord Is My Witness, I Thank You From The Bottom Of My Heart.

Thank you so much dear man, you have brought such joy to my life.  And, to all the others who helped, I thank you also, you are Angels from on High.

God Bless you All you are the most generous kind people I have ever had the great fortune to meet.

My heart is just so full right now. THANK YOU.

To:  Lady Diane (DIANEHEATHER)   (5 of 194)

Thank you Diane, by the way, you look lovely tonight. As you know, this has been a hard and gruelling campaign. Following this press conference, I will gather for a short time with the team to examine what is going on with the polling booth, and if it remains open even longer past its scheduled closing time, we will determine whether our legal team needs to get involved. But I am confident that this will soon be settled. Following that meeting, I will make and receive calls from various world leaders, and then receive a short briefing from the Dept. of Dogfence. From there, I will attend a fairly low key victory party and dinner with some of our close supporters. After that, I am sure you all can understand,  I could really use some time in the Jaccuzi followed by a good nights sleep.

What do you have to say to the Zephry camp who tried to smear yours and the Mighty Pupsters good name with rather distasteful photographhs?

From:  A1SICKPUPE      7/29/2002 8:40 pm
To:  Diane (DIANEHEATHER)   (7 of 194)

LOL! Well, I knew this question would come up sooner or later. My response would be to offer up my paw of friendship to the Zephyr camp. I know that in the heat of a good dogfight, sometimes well meaning pups will sometimes forget their obedience training, and will sometimes bite below the belt so to speak. There were times when I was a young pup that I thought I could do that as well. But you get over it, and you remember that even good pups can go past the fence line now and then. I do not hold any grudges against the Zephyr campaign, or any of our other opponents.

Congratulations wonderful MACTavish....I am ecstatic of the landslide victory for which you have had.  You are so greatly loved by all...and we have the highest confidence in you!

First I will ask a few questions..some may feel are trivial..but I would like to get first things first..

Your Honorable MacTavish...

What song will be played at your inauguration?
Who will be the one over seeing you as you are installed?
And will your Inaugural Ball be opened to all fury animals...inclusive to skunks...just wondering :)
Now for some important questions...

Will doggies all over the land have free zones provided to run wildly so as not to be leashed?
Will you make Rap Artist stop using Dog or Bow Wow or any other Dog references unlawful from their music and artist names :) ?
Will Sylvester the Cat ever be on the Most Wanted Pet list...as Public cat Number One... for his continual need to get the Tweety Bird and digest poor Tweety?
Will Pet Owners be heavily fined for not neutering or spaying their pets?  And what are the fines to be?
Do you think ScoobyDoohs new movie should win the Academy of Pet movies art award...and if so...should ScoobyDooh get his paw print in the Pets Star of fame walk?
Will you Honorable MacTavish...find the true answer to..."Do Pigs really fly"?
And to a more serious matter...what will you do with these abusive Pet Food companies...this is really a grave issue...what is your strategy with having them stop such horrific practices?
Will you be most Honorable MacTavish. soon to be on the David Letterman Show....and given primo status...will you have a Top Ten List of what Canine have to say about humans...I know it will be wonderful...since Diane has been such a good keeper and friend of yours?
Will you also go on Conans show...and make that side quick pooch of his..that smokes the cigar and does doggie business on folks...the profane pup...will you make him bow to you...not that you are a royalist...but I would love to see that one bow to someone...and why not you :) ?

And finally....will you have Delphi...LOL...get this system fixed....and declare two months of a free zone to all...LOL...just kidding :)...but rather...thank Delphi for its great contribution towards helping obtain your victory.

Okieeee that is all for now :)

Needless to say Scatter, I am deeply humbled by all the support that I have received in these forums. But I also understand that fame is fleeting, and today's Top Dog may well be tommorow's down and out dog, if one does not do his best, and make a difference. I promise, that I will be a true working dog. I will do my duty to the best of my ability, as God gave me the vision to see my duty.

On a personal note Scatter, I can't tell you how important your coffee was in "fueling" this campaign!

As a fellow cat supporter, I would just like to say that the "cat" problem is really not a problem as long as dogs keep an open mind and an open pet door policy to all the furry fellows who are willing to extend their paws in trust and loyalty. I am most happy to say, and am not ashamed to admit to my feline cohorts, that I am a very PROUD supporter of MacTavish, and that it is my hope to be named Ambassador of GoodWill for the purpose of Canine/Feline relations.

Thank you President-Elect Mactavish! Nancy, I shall see what I can do about answering your questions regarding the inaugeration. We have decided on a rather informal affair. The musical theme for the ceremony will be that famous rock and roll classic, "The Dogs are Back in Town." That seems to neatly sum up our current happy state of affairs! For our more sedate supporters, we will also be putting on a program featuring a little known piece by Wolfgang Mozart, Agnus Dogi.

In regard to your other questions, I can say this, we will not discriminate against any member of the animal kingdom that supports the MacTavish campaign. Yes, due to recent events, there will be close security, so it is possible that skunks may be scrutinized carefully for everyone's safety, but so will snakes and cats. I hope this answers your questions in regard to the ceremony.

Now President Elect MacTavish will continue to answer your questions, at least for a few minutes more. Mr. President....

Thank you Mighty Pup. Now if I can get back to answering some of Nancy's questions. As I promised in the campaign, one of my first steps will be to issue an executive order to immediately set aside Roam Free zones in every populated area where dogs can run free, unfettered by any leash.

As to the question of certain music groups, I do not have the right or the power to limit their free speech in spite of their use of morally despicable dog terms in either their name or in their songs. But I will use the Bully Doghouse to bring our disgust to the public's attention, and hopefully influence them in the pocketbook. Of course, it is also well known that many such dog rappers are lax in their tax payments, so of course we will make sure this is rectified.

Ah, now there's Sylvester the Cat, and his forever futile feline quest for Tweety. He amuses me more than any of the many humerous cats. But until he actually harms Tweety, or Tweety swears out a complaint of stalking, our paws are tied. When you really examine the issue, between Tweety's antics and that sweet little granny, probably the best thing that could happen to Sylvester would be for him to be locked up.

Excuse me while I drink some water before tackling these next few questions....
From:  A1SICKPUPE      7/30/2002 5:24 pm
To:  SleepyGurl (GRACEREJOICE)   (31 of 194)

Now you ask about perhaps the most difficult issue of them all, spaying and neutering. There are no simple answers to this problem. But first, we must define the problem better. I ask you, is there really such thing as too many dogs? I think not. What we have is a deficiency of people willing to take care of their dogs the way God intended people to take care of their dogs. So first we need to see what can be done about improving human behavior, rather than focusing on dog behavior! Now until this problem is solved, spaying and neutering are an option. However, as I have said time and time again, spaying is the best option of the choice should it be necessary. But of course spaying should be a voluntary decision. Now as to the barbaric practice of neutering, well, neutering will never be an option for the MacTavish administration, except in the case of convicted child biters and those with extreme medical conditions. I know this will be an unpopular decision on the part of some humans, but I can assure you, the male dog population will back me up completely!

Phew, glad that one is over. Now, Scooby Doo, academy awards? I really cannot make any comment on this as I have not seen the movie and I do not desire to influence the Academy anyway.

Do Pigs really fly? Of course, have you never seen one? If this is a case that you do not have enough flying pigs in your area, please let my yet to be named Transportation Secretary know where you are having this problem and exactly what is your concern.

Excuse me a second ladies and gentlemen...

Excuse the interruption. The Mighty Pup has reminded me that we are on a tight schedule, and we do need to answer a few more questions from the other reporters here in the brief time we are allowed. I hope you understand, and I promise, there will be more opportunities for me to "Meet the Press" in the future.

However, I do wish to answer your question about the abuses of certain pet food companies. I intend to submit legislation immediately to bring these companies that abuse animals in their stated quest to benefit animals, when in fact all they seek is profit! Our legislation will seek an immediate stop to these practices, stiff penalties for delays in our plans for correction, and yes, time in the "pen" for those who would profit at the cost of cruelty to animals.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this country is rich in food. There is no reason for a dog to ever go hungry, or be reduced to eating such pathetic food as produced by these companies. This country wastes entirely too much steak, hamburger, roast beef, hot dogs, etc. In addition, as I have discovered for myself in the course of this campaign, thanks to the tireless efforts of the Mighty Pup, we need to explore and develop more alternative food sources such as crawfish, shrimp, jambalaya, and gumbo!
We can not wait for tommorow, this action must start now, just as I am about to enjoy some of these alternative foods as soon as this press conference is over.

Now, could I entertain just a few more questions from others in the audience? Yes, you up front...

Is that a question about our health plan? As you know, I am completly in favor of a reasonable, affordable health plan for all. We will be introducing a bill soon for mandatory medical coverage for all canines. As this plan comes into fruition, we will also consider what can be done for others in the animal kingdom.

Ah, now this is an issue I can really bite into! I know this may come as a surprise to some, but clearly, the appaling lack of freely available, easily accessible fire hydrants is clearly the most pressing need. I can assure you, this is most definitly a pressing need for me right now! *audience howls with laughter*

Now to another pressing need, steps must be taken about the scourge of puppy mills. Niot many people know this, but my great grandfather Buford MacTavish, was raised in a puppy mill. But that was in a time when there was at least some semblance of human decency, and less greed. These modern, profit driven, pup slavery merchants must, and will be dealt with in the strongest possible terms.

As I mentioned earlier, one of my first steps will be to issue an executive order to immediately set aside Roam Free zones in every populated area where dogs can run free, unfettered by any leash. This along with pending legislation aimed at dog mills and some of the evil pet food manufacturers will be some of my first public actions.

But as I hinted at earlier, another high priority must be advancing research vital to all dogs everywhere, one that touches at the heart of numerous dog issues, and that is solving the "Door Knob Principle." Once dogs can master the door knob, we will be better able to work out our own problems, such as unknown mailmen, the cat next door - of course I am talking about cats that did not see the light and work with our campaign, they must be educated, for their own good. There are so many benefits to dogdom if we can solve this tricky problem.

Therefore, I will direct the Dept. of Dogfence to step up efforts in a program we have tenatively named, the Strategic Doorknob Initiative.

But I can not go into too many details about this important work at this time for obvious reasons.

Ladies and Gentlemen, my trusted adviser the Mighty Pup, has just informed me that the election is officially closed! The apparent attempt by some to keep the election open past the scheduled cut off has been thwarted. The disctrict court has closed the voting booth for this election, and those votes cast past the cut off have been thrown out. The results stay the same, only our final victory spread has dropped to 658!

Tweety will be so glad to hear this...Tweety is hiding out on the Start Page...well right now you cant see Tweety ... but Tweety feels the putty cat isnt able to find Tweety there :)

I do beleive that our Honorable President MACTavish is correct that there Sylvester may find some conselation being locked up and away from the antics of Granny and Tweety and the Bulldoggie...but that is only my humble opinion.

Thank you to the entire administration

Thank you, I can assure you that I value the support of our English supporters, both two and four legged. The MacTavish administration will work hard to build the ties between dogs on both sides of the Atlantic, for as the famous English metaphysical poet and  churchman, John Donne (1572-1631) wrote so many years ago, "No pup is an island."

Ladies and Gentlemen, for those of you who have never met Bertha Butt, please give her a warm welcome! Bertha is brings to the table a wide variety of talents, having developed the famous Tough Old Broads forum, and currently serving on the boards of several corporations. She has an outstanding background, and she has graciously offered to serve as Secretary of Steak. I can tell you Bertha, that the Mighty Pup has already suggested you for this important cabinet position, and I concurred readily. Welcome aboard!

Next question?

Excuse me. my future Secretary of Feline Affairs has mentioned some issues that perhaps I need to clarify. She mentioned that I had not mentioned those pups who have turned on their own. However, I feel that this is clearly the fault of their humans, and as such, it is they who should be forced to pay the penalty. There are promising therapies and medications that hold out great hope for reclaiming those poor lost pups.

She has also mentioned that Sylvester is in some sort of therapy at this moment. I have heard reports of this, but feel that I should not address his personal torments.

Finally, Meowmie felt that I overlooked chicken in my answer regarding alternative foods. In truth, I did not intend to mention it directly, for I know there are those that worry about dogs and the threat of chicken bones. However, I also mentioned jambalaya and gumbo, both alternative foods that often use a 10% chicken meat to both boost the milage and the flavor.

Does that clarify your concerns Meowmie?

Thank you once again for your kind words Gracie, and how can we begin to thank you enough for allowing our campaign to use your lovely forum as headquarters! I dare say that our opponents probably had much bigger and fancier headquarters, but not nearly as big a heart as our supporters!

Please, everyone give a big hand for Nancy, or as I so affectionally know her as, Gracie!

*thunderous applause*

And everybody ~ *burst of enthusiasm* You love me! You really love me!!! I'd like to thank Belle and Jace, for letting me pay attention to another puppy without behaving badly.  I promise you all, I will do my best as Secretary of Steak (and Lobster, if I have anything to say about it).

Thanks again!!!

Thank you Bertha for accepting. I have complete confidence that you will be the best Secretary of Steak that this country has ever known. And not to worry, you will have the chance to include lobster as part of my initiative for the exploration and development of needed alternative food sources that I mention earlier. This is a vital need that has my complete and unleashed support.

I think that would be a wonderful idea. I intend for the MacTavish administration to be the most open and accessible administration in memory. We plan on holding an open doghouse if security demands can be satisfied. But as my Chief of Staff, the Mighty Pup, keeps reminding me, we do need to start wrapping up this press conference soon so we can get on to the important business of running this country.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have yet another important announcement, one that I think will excite you all, and it certainly has my toes atwitter! I have been asked what position that our dearest supporter "Gracie" would be offered. I am about to propose the creation of a powerful new cabinet post and department that has been sorely needed for a long time. If she will accept this new and important position, I propose Nancy "GraceRejoyce" will be the new Secretary of Common Sense and Decency! If this is department is approved, and I am certain it will be, the Dept. of Common Sense and  Decency will have a broad range of powers and oversight functions across all the other departments. Any decision or action by the other departments that flys in the face of Common Sense and Decency, will have to answer to Gracie, and she will have MacTavish's full support.

((((( DIANE )))))

I feel pretty overwhelmed, too, and only can imagine the degree that you are!

Yes, it is really something how these folks got involved, and how Mac served as a link between all of us to get us talking and sharing, and way beyond Mac's "election."

I've really enjoyed getting to know you and these other folks, and I don't want the communications to end!

We all owe Mac -- and of course, our Mighty PUPE, who helped to bring all of us together, and to Nancy, who brought you here.

I'm just shakin' my head in wonder at it all.

Oh  my goodness...dear honorable President MACtavish....I am speechless...and that is a lot for me!

I accept this post and all the duties it pertains..and intend with all that is in me...to do honor to all Animals and Humanoids..and to serve you and all President MacTavish, with the best of my abilities and a high standard of integrity.  Thank you sir MacTavish...I am deeply honored.

I will work on the ps and qs of both the animal and humanoid kingdoms.....to alow common sense and decentcy to prevail.  One of my first appointments will be to have a meeting to go over all the political correctness that has so damaged our common sence and bring decentcy to all in removing most of this nonsence.  Our great MacTAvish and the cabinent will lend a great hand in helping to get this change implemented.

Thank you most gracious President....my intention is to serve well and make your adminsitraion proud.
